Two weeks ago, Phoenix Suns center Marcin Gortat slipped away from the Polish national team to undergo testing on his foot that he sprained on March 6. All along, he was expected to return anywhere from Aug. 17-19, and that appears to be the plan.
FIBA.com reports that Gortat will re-join Poland by Sunday.
Gortat had complained of pain in the foot before being released for testing back in the United States, and Polish reporter Lukasz Ceglinski tweeted Gortat had undergone multiple MRIs in Phoenix that showed the injury has healed. Here’s a translated screenshot (h/t @Pawulon84):
Poland has a number of preseason games planned before the FIBA Eurobasket event tips off on Sept. 4, and Gortat is expected to play as soon as he’s back unless jetlag keeps him sidelined. So there will be plenty of opportunity to find out of he’s back to 100 percent, or something close.
