Matt’s Comments:

Garrett’s numbers hardly reflect anything because it was based off of such a small sample. Garrett played in just 19 games and saw very limited playing time in those games. Garrett is a big point guard who has a good feel for the game, he’s confident, he can get teammates the ball and he’s more athletic than one would think.

Garrett played at a very high level in the D-League averaging 17.3 points, 7.3 assists and 1.6 steals off of 49% shooting from the field and an astonishing 62% shooting from beyond the arc during his 8 games with the Bakersfield Jam. Garret has a lot of room for improvement especially on his jump-shot and his physical build but if he can makes strides on that jumper and bulk up a little bit, he may have a future as a solid back-up in the NBA; we all know how much NBA teams love big point guards.

Eric’s Comments:

The Iowa St. product only played in 19 games for Phoenix in his rookie year. He kept being shuffled between the NBA and the Suns’ Developmental League affiliate, Bakersfield Jam.

He played extremely well in the D-league, establishing his talent and showing that he deserves to be in the NBA, he just has to keep working and eventually find the right spot for him to shine. He didn’t play badly, he just played like a rookie point guard, who needs to learn the position better and cut down on turnovers.

Eric’s Grade: C+
