This week the Suns lost some games to fellow lottery teams, and therefore fell in the “upside down” rankings that help determine the order of drafting in the 2013 NBA draft this off-season. Phoenix is currently the seventh-worst team in the league with a 22-41 record that would almost certainly give them the seventh pick.

This draft year is not particularly strong and doesn’t have a clear-cut number one draft pick like last year with Anthony Davis. However, in that top-tier of players (about the best six players in the country) which are represented by the top-10 college players right now, taking into account fluctuation within the season and tournament, Phoenix can select a game-changer that can take the franchise to new heights.

The Suns will want to get at least a top-five pick for the player to make a significant difference in the talent level of the franchise, which will make an immediate impact in their fortunes. That can only happen if they lose games, which despite fans, coaches and players not wanting that to happen, probably will. They will probably lose to Denver Monday, and Houston will get their revenge Wednesday.

I want Phoenix’s future to be bright, therefore I’m OK with them losing. Although,  as a fan I still want them to beat the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers EVERY TIME and still have games like the victory over Houston, which was SO entertaining!

There are ten good prospects that could enter the top-ten in this year’s draft, but I won’t update on Nerlens Noel, because there is nothing new since he is out for the season with an injury and Marcus Short is a point guard, which Phoenix doesn’t need.

So, let’s look at eight of the top prospects that the Suns could draft this off-season!

For this first update of these college prospects I will go for their last five games.
