Marcin Gortat's Injury Update

In last night’s 98-71 loss to the Toronto Raptors, Marcin Gortat left the game in the 1st quarter with an apparent right foot injury. The X-Rays that were taken on his right foot came back negative, and he’s set to undergo an MRI today.

“I definitely felt a pop in my foot and I knew right away it wasn’t my ankle, just my arch,” Gortat told ArizonaSports.com . “Obviously, I’ve got a big bruise and pain, but the pain killers they gave me are pretty cool, so I hope I am going to get more of those.”

“I think I will be fine for the (Sacramento Kings) game,” Gortat said. “I mean, I’m saying I’ll be fine but the doctors are saying I’m out for a few good days, weeks maybe.”

The Suns are already without Jermaine O’Neal as he’s not with the team right now due to his daughter’s open heart surgery which took place just yesterday.

O’Neal tweeted this earlier today: “Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support for my daughter and my family today! She is recovering and doing well. God is truly good!”

It’s said that O’Neal is expected to miss three-games but that isn’t solidified. O’Neal could very well miss more than three-games in order spend time with his daughter as she’s recovering from her surgery.

So with O’Neal out, and Gortat potentially out the next few games as well, expect to see Hamed Hadaddi playing extended minutes at the center position and also extended minutes for the Morris twins.

The Suns are currently fighting for draft position(Whether they admit it or not), but they’re tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 7th worst overall record in the NBA. Gortat’s injury under the current circumstances could be a gift in disguise because without Gortat the Suns chances of winning games become that much slimmer which will benefit the Suns come draft time in June.
