To trade or not to trade: Jared Dudley

Posted by on February 14th, 10:00 am

The All Star break has mercifully arrived in Phoenix. While representatives from 27 NBA teams head to Houston to participate in the various competitions, every member of the Phoenix Suns will be staying home to reflect on the team’s disappointing season. The Suns’ front office will not be resting, however. They will be hard at work exploring potential trades and contemplating the future of every player on the roster. Over the last month, the Suns have been mentioned as a possible destination for every big name in the trade market from Rudy Gay to Al Jefferson. Now the trade deadline is just over a week away, and the franchise has some tough decisions to make. Not wanting to leave all the debating up to Lon Babby and Lance Blanks, the staff of Valley of the Suns has prepared a series of videos to discuss the long-term future of several key players. We’ll be posting one video every day until the Suns resume action next Tuesday.

First up is Jared Dudley. Presenting the case for keeping Dudley is Kevin Zimmerman. Arguing against keeping Jared around is Ryan Weisert. Watch the video and give us your take on Dudley’s future in the comments below.

I’d trade Dudley to Bobcats for Gordon and his sucky contract for an unprotected first rounder.

I’d trade Dudley and Wes, or Gortat and Wes to Bobcats for Gordon and his sucky contract for an unprotected first rounder.

Who are the other two teams who don’t have any representative at Houston?

If Charlotte would do that, heck yes I would be on board.  However, I don’t think Charlotte has much incentive to give up a surefire top 5 pick just to make their team marginally better and save a few bucks.  One can hope though, right?

Trading Dudley is pointless. He’s loyal to the franchise, and still a great complimentary piece.

It does not really make sense to make a trade unless it is for a future first round pick.  The Suns are under the slaary cap and there is no chance in hell that they will make the playoffs this season so why even bother discussing such a trivial matter?
