Alvin Gentry "Parts Ways" With The Suns

The Phoenix Suns and head coach Alvin Gentry “Mutually Agreed” To part ways on Friday morning. With the Suns struggles this season they currently own a 13-28 record which is the worst record in the western conference and 4th worst in the NBA. The Suns have lost 13 of their last 15 games including four straight home games.

Gentry was already on the final year of his contract and with the departure of Steve Nash, no one really had much expectations for the Suns this season to begin with which led most to believe that Gentry was going to remain the head coach of the Suns for the remainder of the season; I guess that’s not the case.

If there were any time to fire Alvin Gentry, it would have been now. The Suns don’t play again January 23rd which gives the team a 4-5 day stretch to select a replacement.

The Suns have yet to announce an interim coach to replace Alvin Gentry but at this point a good guess would be Elston Turner or Dan Majerle. Turner was one of the final candidates for the head coach position with Portland this off-season but ultimately lost out to former Dallas assistant coach Terry Stotts who is now the current head coach of the Blazers.
