The Phoenix Suns(10-15) rallied from an 19-point deficit to top the Sacramento Kings(7-17) in a 101-90 victory last night to capture their 3rd straight win. The Suns were led by the Polish Hammer Marcin Gortat who put up 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks while shutting down the King’s star center DeMarcus Cousins who averaged nearly 28 points per game against Gortat last season; Gortat held Cousins to 9 points on 1 of 10 shooting in 26 minutes of play.

The Suns started off the game slow, after leading early in the 1st quarter 14-8, the Kings closed the quarter on a 14-2 run and led 22-16 after the 1st quarter.

The second quarter got even uglier for the Suns as the Kings opened the 2nd quarter on a 9-2 run behind Jimmer Fredette who scored 7 of his 22 points during that quick run. The Kings would blow the game open after a James Johnson lay-up that gave the Kings a 54-35 lead over the Suns with 2:30 left in the 1st half, but the Suns respond with a 8-0 to close the period and Sacramento had an 11 point advantage heading into the 2nd half.

The Phoenix Suns came out of halftime with a fired up as they put together a 16-4 to begin the quarter and regained the lead after a Shannon Brown 3-pointer with 6:18 to go and the Suns led 59-58. Shannon Brown played a terrific game as he recorded 22 points and 5 rebounds in the contest; Brown scored 14 of his 22 points in the 3rd quarter.

After reclaiming the lead on the Brown 3-pointer the Suns never looked back as they went on to hold the lead for the remainder of the game.

The Suns led 74-68 heading into the 4th quarter as they held Kings in check for just about the rest of the game however the Kings made a serious run at the Suns late in the 4th quarter after going on a 9-2 run and cut the Suns lead to 3 with the score set at 84-87 in favor of the Suns with about 4 minutes to go in the game.

The Suns then responded with a 10-0 run behind 2 back to back 3-pointers from Jared Dudley who now has 20 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time since March of last season.

The Kings were without their dynamic play maker Tyreke Evans who injured his knee in the game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday while the Suns have won 3 straight games for the first time this season. The Suns during this stretch has done a great job taking care of the ball, committing only 10 turnovers per game in the last 3 games.

The Phoenix Suns will close out their 5 game home-stand on Wednesday against the Charlotte Bobcats before heading out to Portland to face the Blazers on Saturday.
