Ralph Sampson & Sean Rooks Added To Suns Staff

On Thursday hall of famer big man Ralph Sampson along with 11-year NBA veteran big man Sean Rooks were added to the Phoenix Suns coaching staff. The Suns have put a lack of effort in the area of developing players but they’ve certainly made an effort to improve that weak aspect this off-season.

The Suns are no longer that old, veteran oriented team that we’ve all become accustomed to seeing. In fact there are only two players on the Suns right now that are over the age of 30, Luis Scola(32) and Jermaine O’Neal(33).

Due to the addition of all the new young players the Suns have made an effort to create a very respectable player development program that consists of a lot of personnel which means there’s more guys on the coaching staff to work with the players.

With the addition of Ralph Sampson who was a dominant big man in the 80s and a 4 time all-star with the Houston Rockets, Sampson will be able to contribute heavily to the growth of a young big man such as Markieff Morris.

The Phoenix Suns also own six first round draft picks within the next three years, and it’s most certainly a wise decision for the Suns to put heavy emphasis on player development. With Sampson and Rooks on board the Suns player’s development staff now consists of Sampson, Rooks, Hunter and Phoenix Mercury head coach Corey Gaines.
