The Phoenix Suns added center Solomon Jones to their training camp roster last week right before the public announcement of Channing Frye’s heart condition. With the addition of Jones, the Suns now have a roster count of 14 which still leaves an open slot for one more player.
Earlier yesterday Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida, reported combo forward Anthony Tolliver said he’s choosing between the Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns or the Minnesota Timberwolves and that he’ll make his decision later on today or tomorrow. However since Minnesota agreed to terms with former Sun, Louis Amundson yesterday the Wolves will most likely be out of the race for Tolliver.
If the Suns do indeed sign Tolliver, it’ll only be to a one year contract. Tolliver can provide the Suns with more depth in the front court with Frye most likely out now for the rest of the season to let his heart condition recover. Tolliver played well for couple seasons with Golden State and the Timberwolves however he is coming off a down year averaging 4.1 points and 3 rebounds a game. Tolliver offer a lot of the same offensive weapons Frye do in that Tolliver can step out and hit the 3 which can help the Suns spread the floor on offense.
