Suns vs Pistons Game Preview: Trap Game

It was an emotional night for the Suns in Staples Center.

It was even more than that, it was a miracle. Sure, they won against a coach that can’t even get Blake Griffin and Chris Paul properly, they won as much as the Clippers lost.

But it didn’t matter.

Steve Nash watched from the sideline, at first with his normal, neutral face. Grant Hill, meanwhile, looked on, worried, looking up on the clock. At the end of the day, they may have been the happiest guys on the floor.

Sure, Shannon Brown went from my most hated player to crunch time hero, Bassy Telfair went from frustrating to “game-clinching steal from Chris Paul something something”, Channing Frye went from cold to hot, and Markieff Morris, from confused and unconfident, to “kinda-Mozgoving-Griffin” confident. The whipping boys became the heroes, while the heroes were either in suits, or on the sideline, covering their head in a towel as they watched the backup they eclipsed so much ever since they first got to Phoenix, clinch a game that nobody, not even they expected to win.

The Suns won, but now, they’re on a third night of a three game in a row set. Now, they’re playing against a weaker team in the definition of trap game. Now, they must understand that the Pistons have some explosive young talent, and while the Suns match up rather well against it, they still need to be weary.

Don’t fall into a trap of thinking that if you can win with the Clippers without your Captains, you automatically win with the Pistons.

The show must go on. Every game is it’s own.

Can the Suns finish this off?

We can only hope . However, whatever  you do, beware, beware Greg Monroe
