Suns vs Clippers Preview: Back-to-Back

And we’re at the midpoint of this three games in three nights, at important one at that, as the Suns continued their reign of comeback win dominance at home against the Jazz. However, now they’ll have to leave the friendly confines of the US Airways Center and enter the wildly unfriendly confines of the Staples Center, unfriendly by virtue of the other tenant, that is.

The problem? Steve Nash and Grant Hill are not going to play (as reported by Paul Coro), as Alvin Gentry, this time quite smartly, is going to sacrifice this game to ensure that the Suns win the gimme against Detroit instead. While surely, there is a small chance of the Suns winning, that chance is contingent on the Clippers, on a second night of a back-to-back of their own being absolutely exhausted, Chris Paul having an off game, Blake Griffin doing dumb things and the Clippers bench failing to do anything right. That, and Bassy or Ronnie having a career game. So yeah… Not going to happen.

The truth is that this game is just a stop-gap before meeting the Pistons in Phoenix tomorrow. Let Steve rest, take the loss, and come out of the set victorious. 2-1 ain’t bad for a set like this.
