Suns vs Bobcats Grades

The Superbowl is over, and I’m coming back, fashionably late with grades for the win against the Bobcats.

Marcin Gortat: A+
I wanted to give Marcin an A, considering he didn’t close the game, but it was also a second game of a back to back, and Marcin was doing everything right on the court. Robin Lopez may have done the scoring tonight, but Marcin gave it all he had, and started the spurt Robin ended. He deserved to end that game, but we all know Alvin’s love for Robin Lopez prevails over Marcin’s competent workmanship.
Robin Lopez: A
He only played 20 minutes, made decisions both good and bad in that time. Wasn’t as good as Marcin, but he made a difference. A deserved A for Robin, one that I don’t expect to see back soon.
Steve Nash: A
Once again, Steve wasn’t at his best. But Steve Nash not on his best is still a 11-10 point guard. Everything we came to expect from him on a second night of a back to back.
Michael Redd: A
In his first start since dinosaurs roamed the plains of Pangea, Michael Redd came back with a vengeance. He started off cold, prompting me to tweet “Redd is dead”, only to come back with a barrage of three pointers, finishing 6-12 from the field and 4-7 from deep for 17 points. Mike Redd isn’t dead, ladies and gents. Mike Redd isn’t dead.
Grant Hill: A-
Grant executed his role perfectly, which was particularly important in Jared Dudley’s absence. He scored 9 points on 3-6 shooting, including nailing a three pointer, stole the ball once and blocked it twice.
Josh Childress: B+
Josh Childress actually made a 3 pointer. Again. That feels weird. I love what Chilly brings to the Suns night in and night out, and I really, really don’t feel like amnestying him anytime soon. You always need a guy who tries, and Josh tries, a lot.
Markieff Morris: B-
Kieff missed a lot of shots, grabbed a lot of rebounds, and somehow got to 11 points on the night. I dunno what happened, but it was really weird. A B, with a – for all the missed shots.
Shannon Brown: B-
Shannon provide what he usually provides, an inefficient spark from the bench. A similar case to Morris’, 11 points and a lot of misses.
Bassy Telfair: C+
He hasn’t scored on either of his three shots, which was bad. He had 4 assists in 14 minutes without committing a turnover though, which was a much needed impact. He benched Ronnie Price for most of the night, and he’s looking better than expected.
Channing Frye: D
Could’ve been an F, but he didn’t kill the team with his defensive mistakes this time. He missed two thirds of his shots though. Again.
Ronnie Price: Incomplete
I don’t grade players who played less than 5 minutes. Ronnie played less than four.

Hakim Warrick did not enter the game.
