Suns vs Nets Game Preview

Scheduling wins.

The Suns got a few and the Nets might just get one, as the team comes off a tough loss against the formerly god awful Cavs. The biggest problem seems to be, as everyone predicted, health. In this case, Grant Hill’s health.

Hill is not expected to play, and neither is Steve Nash. Have fun with that.

Enter Michael Redd. After a solid 12 point debut against Cleveland, the surefire comeback player of the year seems like a perfect fit for the Suns high-throttle, 3-point heavy offence, something that the heavy-legged Hill could not provide. Paul Coro reports that his performance made Alvin Gentry consider starting him, which would certainly help the Suns in getting a fast start against the struggling Nets.

Remember, the Nets good players are basically All-Star point guard Deron Williams, rookie Marshon Brooks and Kris Humphries, who’s still probably more notorious for his short-live marriage rather than his play.

Now, the question is, can the tired Suns beat this team? And can they do something to contain the ferocious offensive rebounding threat that Humphries presents.

Yes, rebounding has been an issue all season, whether it is to Marcin Gortat overhelping, or the failure to box out of his teammates, the Suns have to finish defensive possessions by grabbing the board. While the Pole took a lot of responsibility upon himself, it should be noted that this is a team effort, and if he’s going to get in position, he shouldn’t have to run around the floor trying to close out on open people almost every possession down the floor, but he probably will.

The terrible Nets vs the tired Suns should be a good summary for this one. Expect nothing fancy, and A LOT of sloppiness. And that is with one of the finest floor generals on the floor for New Jersey.

What should the Suns do without Nash?

All Gortat Post Offence Everything seems like a real idea by now.
