Steve Nash, Grant Hill to sit out tonight’s game vs. Nets

PHOENIX — Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash and forward Grant Hill will miss tonight’s game against the New Jersey Nets.

Nash suffered a right quad contusion (charley horse) last night against the Cavs whereas Hill is officially out with a right quad tendon strain.

“They’re kind of beat up,” said head coach Alvin Gentry. “To stick them out there and have something worse happen would be disastrous. We’ll sit them out tonight, give them all of tomorrow, and then we’ll play Sunday.”

Gentry said if this were the playoffs they would probably play but it makes no sense to play the Suns’ banged-up vets with a brutal five-game road trip coming up next week.

“You’ve got to be smart about these things and I don’t see how putting them out when they’re 60 percent, 70 percent doesn’t make sense to me,” Gentry said.
