Former Phoenix Suns forward and current emcee Cedric Ceballos suffered “a series of small heart attacks” on Sunday that has left him hospitalized in Phoenix, according to a release from his publicist Crystal D. Guy. The Arizona Republic reported that Ceballos, 42, was slated for surgery today.

“I feel blessed and very fortunate to be here today and to have made the decision to go to the hospital and get my symptoms checked out late last night,” Ceballos said in the statement. “I ask everyone to keep me in your prayers as I make my journey back to good health.  Thank everyone who has called and is concerned.  While I want to respond and speak to everyone, I cannot right now, but will be in touch very soon.  God bless you.”

Ceballos led the Arizona Scorpions team that he co-owns to a 118-90 victory over the Shizouka Gym Rats on Sunday during which he started to feel the pain that led him to the hospital.

Excuse me, but did you steal this article? I wrote about this nearly 6 years ago, but maybe it was just a coincidence. As long as you give me props, I’m fine with you writing about this.

Ced is one of my all-time favorite Suns, and he’s a great emcee. I hope he recovers fully.

Ced, you’re too young to be having heart trouble!

My best wishes for your recovery. Take care of yourself, man.
