Phoenix Suns third-year center Robin Lopez was officially added to the roster of the 2010-2012 USA Basketball national team program on Thursday, USA Basketball announced in a release Thursday.

Lopez joins his twin brother Brook in the program after playing on the 2008 USA Basketball Men’s Select Team that helped train the gold-medal winning Olympic squad for Beijing.

Lopez joins the team in time for the squad’s July 19-24 training camp in Las Vegas and the FIBA World Championships, which runs Aug. 28 – Sept. 12 in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and Kayseri, Turkey.

Lopez may also have the opportunity to play with former Suns teammate and new Knick Amare Stoudemire, who is also confirmed for the team.

Other new additions to the National Team include new Mavericks center Tyson Chandler and Celtics guard Rajon Rondo.

The roster expected to play in the World Championships and pre-tournament exhibitions does not include any players from the 2008 Olympic team. All of those players turned down invites due to injury, free agency or family concerns.

The USA roster is also currently confirmed to include the following: Chauncey Billups (Denver); Stephen Curry (Golden State); Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City); Tyreke Evans (Sacramento); Rudy Gay (Memphis); Eric Gordon (Los Angeles Clippers); Danny Granger (Indiana); Jeff Green (Oklahoma City); Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia); David Lee (Golden State); Brook Lopez (New Jersey); Kevin Love (Minnesota); O.J. Mayo (Memphis); Lamar Odom (Los Angeles Lakers); Derrick Rose (Chicago); Gerald Wallace (Charlotte); and Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City).

The team is led by Duke University men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, whose staff includes Syracuse University’s Jim Boeheim, former Suns coach and current Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni and Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan.

Should be a great experience for RoLo. He'll come back a better player.

Wow, 3rd year and he's in it. Hopefully he'll come back more experienced and confident rather than burned out.

    I suppose his sized helped.
