Well, the Suns actually found a way to push the pace a little bit. It didn’t happen a whole lot, but hey–they got a transition bucket (on the sweet oop from Nash to Richardson) in the first two minutes. Their first 12 points? All in the paint! I guess they decided to get a little bit aggressive. That’s what happens when you listen to Señor Sun-N-Gun!
Let’s look inside the box real quick, shall we?
And the Suns?
That’s right, Nash had 9 assists in the first quarter. NINE. That’s good. This is the way the Suns have to play. I said they couldn’t do it, but they’re doing it. 52% shooting (and 50% from 3!). 12 boards. So far, so good.
One thing about the Blazers: 11 free throw attempts in the first quarter. Both teams are playing aggressively, but only one so far is pointing that in the direction of foul trouble for the defense. That’s something to watch going forward.
This is fun to watch so far. Fast-paced, good ball. The Blazers are gonna make more shots at some point, so it’ll get closer, I assume. See you at halftime!
