TO and steals, it says it all. PHX just handed the game to MIA on a silver lined platter. IT was bizarre but at the end of the 1st quarter you could already see the signing on the wall - concentration was dwindling. The Suns do this all the time at the end of the quarters, except for the 4th quarter...they loose concentration and give up unnecessary points that prove to be lethal at the end of the game. Many other teams know that staying focused and energized in the dying seconds of a quarter may mean the difference between a W and an L. At the end of the 1st Q PHX gave up 4 easy points to MIA and did not convert on their 3 possessions....possibly an 8 or 10 point swing.
I credit the coaching staff with this loss - this is something they MUST prevent. Time out taken in Q2 was way too late (learn from Phil Jackson/LAL), the dammage was already done. This time out should have been taken after MIA scored 5 unanswered point sand Frye missed his 22-foot jumper with a 35-43 score. After that things went souer in just a couple of minutes and MIA ran over the Suns like a steamroller. The defensive adjustment on Beasley came way too late....and Lopez was not used to his full potential, especially on the offensive boards. Well, if there ever was a completely unneccesary loss it was this one. And it is so stupid.....you know that a W can push you up in the standings as all competitors have tough games, and indeed several of them lost, but....as we have gotten used by now, when it's time to step it up and make a statement the Suns shrivel and become invisible. Gentry should ask his team if they are afraid of making the play offs...it shure as hell looks like it. With losses of LAL , Dallas, Denver, S.Antonio, a W would have meant the world!!!!
