Steve Nash is the NBA’s best at spreading the wealth on the court — averaging a league-best 11.4 assists per game. But this holiday season Nash has transferred that giving spirit from the hardwood into his charity work.
MVSteve is one of 56 athletes participating in the month-long “Who gives? Racing for a cause” campaign that runs through Jan. 15.
Nash will compete against the 55 other athletes to see who can raise the most money for their respective organizations. Other participating athletes include Tony Hawk, Mia Hamm, Lance Armstrong and Alonzo Mourning.
This means it is up to the citizens of Planet Orange to take part in the generosity that comes with the holiday season and help Nash not only win the competition that includes a $10,000 prize but also raise money for his organization.
Nash is supporting Educare Arizona, an aspiring world-class preschool program for at-risk children all the way up to age 5. The purpose of the program is to achieve early child development and educate these youngsters in hopes that they can remove themselves and their families from poverty.
The organization needs all the support it can get, and what better time of year than the holiday season to flex those generosity muscles. By way of Nash’s project page, anyone can provide a donation, ranging from as low as $10 to as high as Nash’s salary and beyond.
