J-Rich suspended two games for DUI

The NBA officially suspended Suns guard Jason Richardson today for two games without pay after he pled guilty to driving under the influence in December.

Assuming he does not get hurt and start the season on the injured list, he will miss the team’s first two games on Oct. 28 at the Clippers and Oct. 30 back home against the Warriors. I would guess that Leandro Barbosa will take his place in the starting lineup.

You might remember J-Rich had only been a Sun for about a week and a half when he was pulled over at 2:48 a.m. on Dec. 21 (a late Saturday night/Sunday morning) for suspicion of DUI hours after putting up a 19-7-6 line in a big home win over Denver.

J-Rich was also suspended for the Clippers game coming out of the All-Star break last season for “conduct detrimental to the team” after he drove 90 in a 35 with his 3-year-old son in the backseat without a child seat over All-Star weekend. He was booked into jail that Sunday night (Feb. 15)  “on counts [of] endangerment, reckless driving, failure to use a child seat and excessive speed,” according to The Arizona Republic.

Some more Amare linkage

Paola Boivin further analyzed some of Amare’s recent comments in terms of how they relate to his new Sun Tzu obsession, and TrueHoop’s Kevin Arnovitz took a stab at Amare Stoudemire the Taoist.

You know it’s a slow news week when Amare opening his mouth gets analyzed to the point of paralysis by pretty much everyone that cares about the Suns, and I’m certainly guilty on that count as well.
