And …. cut. Steve Nash’s HBO debut is finally in the books. The result? 30 seconds of pure genius. OK, maybe genius is a stretch, but he looked good and sounded good, and that’s all you can ask for in a cameo. Was he Brad Pitt? No. But he sure was Steve Nash, and in the cameo world, being yourself is good enough.
I say four stars for Nash’s Entourage performance. His delivery was smooth and natural, but I would have liked to see a little more of that Nash charisma. Although he alluded to his nerves on his Facebook page, Nash looked like the veteran that he is on the court, calm and unfazed. All in all it was a great performance by MVSteve.
Nash’s first line of his television and HBO career… “Ouch bro.” After shaking the nerves of his first line, Nash came back with a big handshake and a smile directed at E (Kevin Connolly) as he said, “We were just getting acquainted.”
After some more small talk, Nash’s debut scene ended as he walked away and gave E the old finger point while saying, “Eric, good luck with your girl.” This was easily Nash’s most impressive line of the night.
Nash was dynamic, versatile, yet subtle in his television debut Sunday night. Judging by Nash’s eventful summer thus far, I wouldn’t expect his video production and acting to end at Entourage.
Nash on Millionaire
If Entourage wasn’t enough, Steve Nash will appear on Regis Philbin’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire on Aug. 20 when he plays for the Steve Nash Foundation. The Celebrity Edition of Millionaire includes other celebs such as Snoop Dogg, Rachael Ray, Shawn Johnson, Vanessa Williams, and Katy Perry, among others.
