About Bayless, I think he would have been a real possibility if the Suns engaged in serious Nash talks with Portland. We've talked here before about the possibility of a Bayless and Travis Outlaw for Nash deal. But this extension obviously eliminates that possibility. I've been following Jerryd pretty much since he was a freshman in high school and I covered him as a freshman at U of A, and I think he's such a competitor that he's going to be one hell of a player one day. Not sure if he's a true point guard, but I think the Nash extension makes that a moot point right now.

I would have been happy with a Nash extension if Steve Kerr traded Ben Wallace's expiring contract for a highly talented player (say Tyson Chandler).

Without a clear road to becoming a contender again, I just don't see the value in resigning Nash. It's only putting off the inevitable (rebuilding), and I think that will cause more problems down the road.

I'd much rather begin rebuilding now, when Amare is 26-27 years old, rather than 29-30 years old. Amare's current age puts time on the Suns side (no need to hit a home run straight away, a patient approach is possible), rather than adding a further complication.

Kerr has DEFINITELY started off on a good note with dumping Shaq's big contract, and inking Nash, Hill, and Frye to feasible deals (Admit: We got these guys for cheap). Now, the upcoming task should FIRST be to giving Amar'e an extension. Hopefully, trying to dump J-Rich's $13-14 million a year contract. Include Dragic and Fropez in a J-Rich deal for a more proven player, like Bayless (PG) and Chandler (C). I also think we need to add some shooters to this roster. Where is Gordan Giricek when you need him? But honestly, I think the best thing Kerr could do is hold back until the season starts, and go from there.

I like this extension and its good to see Kerr expending some money.

I really dont trust Dragic as our backup PG as much as I dont trust Fropez as our backup big man. But I am thrilled to watch Clark and Frye on this team.

Also, it would be great if the Suns could land Bayless from Portland.

We cant forget about LB either. We gotta hope he's healthy for this season, develop a kinda defensive sense and keep on playing hard. To me, he would start, bringing J-Rich from the bench.

I'm with you Mike. at a very minimum it's gonna be fun to watch...and at a maximum our talent is going to develop under the hand of Nash. I actually just bought season tickets for the first time so I'm a little relieved.
