Nothing good ever happens after midnight

Jason Richardson

Jason Richardson had only been a member of the Phoenix Suns for about a week and a half when he was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:48 a.m. on Dec. 21 in Phoenix, hours after he tallied 19 points, seven boards and six assists in a win over Denver.

Maybe he didn’t realize Arizona is the toughest state in the nation on DUIs, as many of my friends know all too well, but driving after drinking with whatever amount of alcohol he allegedly consumed that night is a risk J-Rich or any athlete can’t afford to take.

Richardson is making enough millions of dollars that I’m sure a cab wouldn’t have set him back that terribly much.

J-Rich wasn’t the first and won’t be the last Valley athlete to be pulled over for a DUI. Heck, our old friend Charles Barkley just got stopped in Scottsdale last week.

So although this is America and Richardson is innocent until proven guilty, pro athletes like J-Rich should care more about their image than to take a chance at being pulled over for a DUI.

Not to mention what could have happened if a DUI were the least of his worries.
